Charnock Richard Scarecrow Festival
3rd, 4th, 5th September 2010
Charnock Richard Scarecrow Festival 2009

Charnock Richard are holding their fourth Scarecrow Festival
on 3rd, 4th, 5th September 2010.
Looking back at our past performances, we are expecting
an amazing display of scarecrows all around the village.
Throughout the weekend there will be activities in Church, School, the Old School, the Scout and Guide Headquarters and on the School field.

In Church there will be various exhibitions – Mining in the local area by Tom Morris, woodcarving by Lancashire and Cheshire Woodcarvers, and you can try hand painting pottery which will be hosted by Fired 4 U.  Our organist Gareth Edwards will be playing each day, with “Your Favourite Hymns” on Saturday from 2pm.

Elsewhere there will be games, crafts, face-painting, dancing  - Broken Spoke Line Dancers, Leyland Morris Men and the Dance Academy UK, youth bands – St. Michaels Steel Band and Charnock Richard Brass.  British Cycling are coming Saturday and Sunday, so you could try out your skills on a BMX.

There will be a Children’s Concert in Church on Friday evening, Last Night at the Proms presented by Pemberton Old Wigan JJB Band, who have qualified for the National Finals in London 2009, in Church on Saturday evening, and a Parade of Living Scarecrows led by the Red Rose Jazz Band and St. Michaels Cheer Leaders on Sunday at 3 pm.  This will be followed by a Balloon Spectacular on the School field.
